Alice In Wonderland

Photobucket

Not a lot of people remark on it but the quality of acting is a bit like sports in so much as the quality has risen to an extraordinary level over the last fifty years. So much so there's not much improvement left.

I've got a soft spot for Americans doing exceptional British characters and accents, so after watching Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland with Johnny Depp doing the finest Mad Hatter I can imagine, I've put him alongside Brad Pitt's gypsy character from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels for extraordinary acting performances that leave me full of admiration and respect.

Anybody got an unusual interpretation of the story? I'm all ears.

The Truman Show & Dark City

I watched both movies earlier this week. Coincidentally both were released in 1998 and  tackle similar themes of controlled populations, though the narratives are in some ways asymmetric mirrored images of each other.

In The Truman Show we have a character manipulated by an entire island acting out day to day life while the rest of the world watches his story from birth to mid marriage ennui. Actually the gullible consumers of the world are rooting for Truman (played by Jim Carey) because like him they are easily manipulated and trapped though they don't quite realise it is their attention that is for sale as the product placement medley makes clear in the first clip.

Dark City's premise is that an entire city is being energetically devoured or fed upon (in much the same way as cock fighters get off by observing the fighting of animals) by an Archontic alien/astral entity/men in black force who can freeze the entire population at a moments notice and change circumstances including a persons entire memory and personality.

Echoing that mirrored narrative I mentioned at the outset, we see that Truman's life is a never ending beautiful day wearily acted out in a simulacrum of happiness, social cohesion and veneers of harmony whereas in Dark City the themes are tackled through film noir sets, nihilism and nights that never end and a sun never rises.

It's extraordinary to me that the Truman Show eclipsed the entire constructed reality TV trend. As if Hollywood was preparing populations for TV ideas of constant surveillance entertainment and the notion of being closely observed by all pervasive and discreet technology.

Astro theologists may have picked up that it's the Sirius star light that comes crashing down in the beginning of the movie giving a brief clue to Truman and us of the observational process not forgetting its Orion's belt alignment I've been talking about from time to time.

Donnie Darko

When Donnie Darko (The Directors Cut) was rereleased the slightly Arabic looking font was removed for the usual brainwashing and paranoid issues that the US command and control corporate media have when a piece of art about a plane part hitting a building jangles the post 9/11 nerves. At least in Soviet Russia and The Peoples Republic of China the educated knew they were being lied to but most Americans are still in the dark about how manipulated they are. That is changing though. Day by day people are waking up and the hundredth monkey effect is likely to happen in 2012.

Donnie Darko is one of my top movies ever. There's so much synchromysticism in it that I found myself moved twice as much as the first time I watched the movie, and still there's much room for digging deeper into it. There's no need to go on at length about the eerie synchronicity I experienced last night as much of it is personal but it resonated heavily and struck a even deeper contextual chord for the times we are living in.

One hard to ignore example though was the Patrick Swayze character of Jim Cunningham with his creepy influence in school education. Cunningham is subsequently exposed for being a child pornography user which I saw as an analog for the recent Jerry Sandusky football coach abusing students at Penn State University and which for me isn't a scandal but merely business as usual for powerful and influential people in society as I've written about here here and here.

Donnie Darko is the kind of film that triggers future memories and past futures. You can look at a couple of examples over here and here but I think you should bring your own experiences to the film and see what I'm trying to adumbrate. It's a personal experience. There's also an interesting and immersive website over here.

2012 - The Movie

This time I downloaded the correct 2012 movie that I wanted to peruse for interesting details. It's a piece of genius plausible deniability. So over the top that nobody could take it seriously and yet littered with small details that have already manifested themselves since its release date. Here's the bits you missed first time round.

Movie: Earth cracks appearing everywhere.

Real Life: Earth cracks appearing everywhere. Sink-holes are appearing too.

Movie: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the Sun ejecting neutrons that are changing Earth's atoms.

Real Life: Rise in CME and science says that the sun is now changing the rate of radioactive decay rate for Isotopes by neutrinos emitted by our solar system's star.

Movie: Set against a backdrop of global unrest.

Real life: Set against a backdrop of global unrest.

Movie: John Cusack as Jackson is reading Melville's Moby Dick

Real life: My Moby Dick Posts for synchronicity and a veiled interpretation of the book.

Movie: The head of the Louvre Museum is assassinated on the 13th pillar of the Parisian tunnel Pont d'Alma.

Real life: Princess Diana assassinated through ritual killing on the 13th pillar of the Parisian tunnel Pont d'Alma.

Movie: Noticeable increase in unexplained Black Ops helicopter movements at the beginning.

Movie: Mad Charlie reveals to Jackson there is a breakaway civilisation planned to preserve the human species.

Real life: Richard Sauder's thorough research on underground bases around the globe and Richard Dolan's research on the evidence for an off planet breakaway civilisation (known as Project Genesis) on Mars.

Movie: Science advisor describes the Earth VIP status as having 'a ticket'.

Real Life: Businessman George Green (among others), describes the vernacular used for people with VIP escape status from Earth catastrophe as having 'a ticket'.

Those are just fun snippets that synch closely with information I've learned as I had no interest in the movie till recently. The effects are so good it's understandable that people walk away from the film dismissing it as pure fantasy. It's brilliantly over the top.

A stretch limo crashing through a building that is simultaneously dropping into the Earth's crust.

A runway ripping up while an escape plane idles before getaway.

Above is a seminal shot of a plane and train flying in the air at the same time. Magnifico. Of course maybe the script writers came across the same material as I did. But those cracks in the earth are a recent phenomena, as is the civil unrest, as is the increase in CME's and the changes in atomic metrics that are supposed to last for ever.

Movie: After the extinction level event the survivors head for Southern Africa.

Real life: Polar shift scientist Patrick Geryl says mountainous regions of Africa will remain untouched in the event of polar shift.

He's heading to mountainous areas though much like the movie, I'm of the opinion that if you're meant to be. Then you're meant to be.

The Manchurian Candidate

Recently I caught up with a movie that I have more than a passing interest in the subject matter and yet I'd never seen the quintessential production on the topic. It took about ten seconds to realise I'd made way too many assumptions on how it would be. From the opening scene in Korea I was already sitting up straight, and by the time the display of mind control was on show I realised the movie was way more sophisticated and polished than I had ever anticipated. It's quite an extraordinary film. The original that is. When we look at the time it was made it's almost hard to ignore that some very deep secrets were being spilled quite early on about the business of MKULTRA.

Unfortunately the subtitles were lost in my screen grabs and so the essence of the movie is not captured as well as I wanted so I'll just introduce that Leslie Parrish below is being informed her new husband is afflicted with the hidden condition that is a little to complex to describe fully in that moment. She was an extraordinary beauty.

The presence of Frank Sinatra elevated his credentials (already cool) to me up to the next level. He chose the right script, the right role and he plays it very well (with advice from JFK we're informed) though to be fair Laurence Harvey's wooden role and flat personality worked out well for me too.

I immediately began researching the book and the film and came across a claim that the book stole scenes from Robert Graves I Claudius and I just knew that Angela Lansbury's controlling character was based on Augustus' wife Lyvia.

To assist Angela Lansbury's senator husband in remembering how many communists there are in the military they settle on Heinz 57 varieties as a number mnemonic. I'm quite sure the same arbitrary technique is used today to assess the mickey mouse terrorist threat but I was amused as the 57 number has resonance elsewhere too.

The original Manchurian Candidate is an extraordinarily mature subject in a time when 50 years later many people still don't grasp the full impact of what MKULTRA is all about. In addition to this Hollywood makes a rare gem of a movie and treats the subject in all of its complexity instead of a binary good versus evil narrative that would have been so easily to fall into. I would never had thought this movie could be anything more than a 5 or a 6 out of 10 but in the final analysis it's a 9 for layman and a 10 for the person who gets what is being conveyed here. I suggest digging around the MKULTRA tag below to get a little more depth out of this movie. It blew me away.

Any suggestions for your top black and white movies most welcome. This gave me an appetite for catching up as there's a lot I've never seen.
